The Monk on a Bike……

Well not a real Thai Buddhist Monk in saffron robes, but Jamie Monk from the UK, Jamie has been living in Phuket for around 10 years, and some years back he stared writing a Blog about Phuket and the surrounding areas, his aim was to dispel the idea that Phuket is just bars, girls and girlie bars and trashy tourism. He wanted to highlight the interesting cultural side of Phuket, the local markets, local,cheap and tasty places to eat, and well just about anywhere off the main tourist path that is worth a visit. Amazing Bike Tours are a big fan of his Phuket Blog.

We have been trying to drag Jamie out of the dive shop where he works for a long time, and on the 9th April 2010 Jamie finally joined Amazing Bike Tours for a 1 day bike tours to Koh Yao Noi.

Trek 4500 Mountain Bikes for General Rental

Bikes are not only available for use during our tours but are also available for general rental from Amazing Bike Tours operations office in Phuket.

Bikes for General Rental

In case you want to go it alone or just need a bike for a day, the following are rental prices per day from Phuket:

1-7 Days:400 Baht per day
8-14 Days: 360 Baht per day
15-21 Days: 320 Baht per day
22+ Days: 280 Baht per day

Please Note: We require a cash deposit of Baht 20,000 for each bike rented.

Replacement tubes, pump, tools etc are not included with the rental. Please make sure that you have these necessities.

Mechanical disclaimer: Generally, it is the responsibility of the renter to maintain the mechanical suitability of the bike after it leaves our shop. All bikes leave our shop adjusted, greased, lubed, and prepped. Mechanical failures caused by the user are not entitled to a refund (this includes chain, derailleur, shifters). Flat tires, broken spokes, etc are not entitled to a refund. If Amazing Bike Tours determines that a mechanical failure was due to circumstances unrelated to the user, then we will determine an equitable refund solution. Any damage to a frame or its parts will be assessed a fee for replacement (ie. a broken chain). Please be a responsible rider.

Amazing Bike Tours announces New day trip.

So far Amazing Bike Tours has focused on our overnight trips, all of which are 3 days and 2 nights in duration. While these tours are popular many of our guests and travel agents we cooperate with have also requested Amazing Bike Tours also provide some day trips.

So we are excited to announce our new day to Koh Yao Noi.

Koh Yao Noi – Day Trip

Koh Yao Noi (Little Long Island) is a sleepy island still enjoying a slow pace of life located in Phang Nga Bay, only 1 hour’s boat ride away from the international resort island of Phuket.

The moment you step on to these islands the usual stress and worries of every day life melts away and the island pace of life gets a hold of you. While Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country these islands are mainly populated by peaceful Muslim communities that make a living from fishing, rice farming and rubber tree plantations. The recent arrival of tourism to these islands hasn’t affected the warm welcoming locals.

Our Bike tour in Koh Yao Noi will have us Cycling through a small market town, rice paddies, past mosques and fishing villages, through areas of natural jungle rich in plant life and fauna.

Trip profile:

This day trip Biking Tour combines small paved island roads with very little traffic as well as some off road dirt tracks through jungle areas and rubber trees.

The distance covered is not excessive and anyone with a reasonable level of fitness will be able to enjoy this cycling tour.

Some of the off road sections are hilly and can be a bit challenging but our route can easily be modified to suit the groups Biking abilities.

Unlike Amazing Bike Tours other tours on the mainland, our support vehicle does not join us on Koh Yao Noi. Our mini buses will provide transport from your Phuket hotel to the pier, once we arrive in Koh Yao Noi after a 1 hour scenic boat journey we will be by our self with out mini bus/support vehicle for this Bike Adventure Tour.

Tour Cost: 2,900 Thai Baht

Trip duration: 1 Day

Departure Days: Every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

Pick up Time: 07:45 – 08:30 am at your hotel

Drop off: Usually around 18:30 at your hotel

Children: Children aged12-16 years are welcome on this trip and receive a 400 Baht discount.

Bike Rental: Trek Mountain Bike, helmet and water bottle are included in the tour price.

Total Distance: 30 KM.

Support: No mini bus/support vehicle on Koh Yao Noi.

Insurance: Insurance is provided by Amazing Bike Tours.

Group Size: Minimum 2. Maximum 12.

What to Bring: Sports shoes suitable for cycling, T-shirt, shorts or long pants, Sun cream, Hat, Sunglasses, swim wear, towel, camera. Small back pack to carry these items when cycling as our mini bus does not join us on the Island of Koh Yao Noi.

Tour Includes: Mini Bus Transfer to/from your hotel, Boat transfer to/from Koh Yao Noi, Trek Mountain Bike, Helmet, Water Bottle, Lunch, Fruits, Drinking water, English speaking guide, Insurance and an Amazing Experience.
